Biography

Liz Loewy is the co-founder and Chief Operating Officer at EverSafe, a technology platform that monitors the financial health of older adults and families for fraud, identity theft, and age-related issues. The service also houses “HelpVul,” the nation’s first uniform reporting and communication portal for financial services organizations, Adult Protective Services, and state securities regulators.

Before co-founding EverSafe, Liz was a prosecutor in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she oversaw the Office’s Domestic Violence Unit before spearheading the creation of the nation’s first Elder Abuse Unit − serving as its Chief for 18 years. She has served as trial counsel in a number of high-profile cases, including the investigation and prosecution of Anthony Marshall, the son of New York City philanthropist, Brooke Astor.

Liz currently serves as EverSafe’s subject matter and compliance expert on elder fraud and as liaison to partners including government agencies, financial services professionals, regulators, attorneys, geriatricians, law enforcement, and health and aging organizations. She participated in the first National Policy Summit on Elder Abuse in Washington, DC in 2001 and presented at the most recent White House Conference on Aging in July of 2015. Liz has keynoted or presented on the subject of elder financial abuse at conferences in the US and Europe, including the Milken Institute’s Global Conference and those hosted by the North American Securities Administrators Association, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the American Bar Association, the American Bankers Association, the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, the National College of Probate Judges, the National Adult Protective Services Association, commercial financial institutions, hospitals, academic institutions, as well as federal and state prosecutors’ offices and police departments across the US.

Liz serves on the Financial Exploitation Advisory Board of the National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA). She has authored a number of articles and books including a primer for professionals entitled “Financial Exploitation of the Elderly: Legal Issues, Prevention, Prosecution, Social Service Advocacy” (Civic Research Institute).
