Biography

David Shapiro is co-chair of the Tax, Compensation and Employee Benefits group of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr LLP, where he represents businesses and their owners in international and domestic tax planning. His practice includes entity formation and structure planning, securities offerings and hybrid financings, joint ventures, restructuring, and strategic acquisitions and dispositions. He also is an adjunct professor at the Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law.

David is a frequent speaker on tax matters to organizations such as New York University’s Institute on Federal Taxation, the American Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and is a regular author of articles on tax matters. 

David is a member of the International, American, and Philadelphia Bar Associations. He is an officer of the Taxes Committee of the International Bar Association, a past Chair of the Committee on U.S. Activities of Foreigners and Tax Treaties of the American Bar Association Section of Taxation, and Chair of the of the Philadelphia Bar Association Tax Section. He is a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and is ranked in Chambers USA.

Mr. Shapiro holds a Juris Doctor degree from Duke University School of Law. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in archaeological studies from Yale University. An avid violinist, David is a long-time member of the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra.
