Non-profit organizations have two fundraising goals: (1) collect donations and (2) organization exposure to facilitate more donations. One of the many tools used by non-profits is organizing a public fundraising event. Although these events can be lucrative, they can also be dangerous if the liability and tax issues are not considered. This program is designed to assist attorneys to understand these issues so they may assist their non-profit clients to obtain maximum benefit while mitigating risk.

- Understand the Unrelated Business Income Tax as it relates to Corporate Sponsorship
- Set up Qualified Sponsorship Payments
- Navigate the insurance issues for fundraising events
- Advise clients on liability issues
- Ensure 501(c)(3) compliance as it relates to marketing materials for events
- Work within the rules with respect to charity raffles, door prizes, and bingo games
