Overview
This program, led by immigration attorney Allen E. Kaye, provides a general overview of how aliens obtain immigrant visas and become Lawful Permanent Residents.
The U.S. Immigration Selection System consists of family-sponsored immigrants, employment-based immigrants, diversity immigrants, refugees and asylees and persons not subject to numerical limitations. The overall annual cap is 480,000 immigrant visas.
Mr. Kaye focuses on family-sponsored immigration, employment-based immigration and diversity immigration (the visa lottery). The “green card,” form I-551 or I-551 is merely evidence of Lawful Permanent Resident status.
