The course, presented by Andrew R. Jones, Rachel Aghassi, and Spencer A. Richards, Esq.of Furman Kornfeld & Brennan LLP, will present suggestions to reduce the probability of legal malpractice claims, attorney liability defenses, and will also cover third-party cyber liability claims against attorneys. The program will review the Rules of Professional Conduct governing matter intake, conflict checks, exiting the file, managing client expectations, and billing practices, including suits for fees. We will also be discussing a lawyer's ethical obligations, including a lawyer's duty to protect the confidentiality and the client's electronic data. Ultimately, this presentation will discuss tips and best practices for lawyers to understand their ethical obligations in order to avoid legal malpractice and cyber liability claims, and will provide practical guidance to reduce the likelihood of those claims.
