Overview

While the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) has been on our radars for some time now, the implementation of what changes need to be made to existing protocol, how to handle new requests for reasonable accommodations under the broader definitions included within the PWFA, and how the PWFA has played out in real-time are all still new paths we are uncovering. This program will discuss the real-time effects of the PWFA on the workplace and potential ways to address more difficult requests for reasonable accommodations. This program will additionally discuss any notable issues pending before the Circuit Courts and required changes to workplace policies and practices.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify when and how a reasonable accommodation is requested, and some of the major pitfalls to avoid when initiating this process

  2. Prepare updated forms and internal workplace policies on reasonable accommodations relating to pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions

  3. Review and revise current policies to ensure full compliance with the PWFA

  4. Analyze the current issues pending before the Circuit Courts as it relates to the PWFA
