This program, presented by Skadden attorney Jason Williamson, will consider the background to the introduction of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the "MSA"), as well as its key provisions. In particular, the program will outline the key criminal offenses established by the MSA, as well as the potential civil liability that can arise for corporations that fail to comply with reporting obligations under the MSA.
In addition, the program will consider some of the criticisms which have been leveled against the MSA, including with respect to the enforcement of its key provisions. The program will also consider the latest developments relating to the MSA, including possible reform and calls for the establishment of further criminal liability.
