Overview
Speaking to your target audience through people with a loyal following is big business and a highly effective way to engage with customers and grow brand equity. But while influencers may be ubiquitous in today's social media landscape, there are some risks to consider when hiring one. If an individual receives any sort of compensation to make a post, that triggers various disclosure requirements. And because that influencer represents the brand to the general public, it's important that contracts contain certain protections for the company governing both what the individual can post and if the company has the right to have it removed.
This program, presented by Aaron Goodman and Jack Ferry of Baker Hostetler, will cover appropriate disclosures of connections between influencers and brands as well as how to contract with influencers to protect the business' interests.
This program will cover:
FTC requirements for disclosures in influencer posts when advertising on behalf of a brand
When disclosures are required
How to make appropriate disclosures across different social media platforms
Similar restrictions that apply to consumer testimonials
Examples of enforcement actions
How to structure an influencer agreement to best protect the company's interests
What training and monitoring practices a company working with influencers should maintain

Examine the rules for disclosing connections between brands and influencers
Discuss best practices for contracting with influencers
