Overview
Small firm practitioners often become "Jills of all trades" but masters of little. These practitioners may not recognize the risks, unnecessary stress, and undervalued time that doing work in which they don't specialize brings. This program, taught by solopreneur and growth strategist Jackie Cara, provides legal practitioners tools for evaluating whether offering wills-related services is worthwhile for them and for their practice. As an added bonus, many of these tools can be applied to evaluating other services lawyers might consider adding to their practices. This program is designed for solopreneurs who: take everything that walks in the door to make ends meet; consider themselves "general practitioners;" want to grow their firm but don't know how to begin; and/or don't know that writing wills is not as simple and straightforward as it may seem.
Practitioners will explore ways to evaluate profitability, risk, and growth, rather than simply taking on all of the work offered to them.
Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate wills as a service
- Determine what you may not know about writing wills and whether it's worth it to take on work that isn't in your wheelhouse
- Perform a cost/benefit analysis of the work you take on as a legal practitioner
- Consider alternatives to taking on work related to wills
