Overview

This session will discuss the new U.S. legal understanding of an employer's obligation to accommodate an employee's religious observances and practices in the workplace and the potential conflict it creates with the right of other employees not to be proselytized. This session will focus on the new undue hardship analysis set forth in the 2023 United States Supreme Court's decision in Groff v. DeJoy and its impact on how employers approach competing interests related to religion in the workplace.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain why corporate practices related to religious accommodation are likely to change following Groff
  2. Discuss the potential conflict between one employee's right to practice religion and another employee's right to be free of it
  3. Discuss the potential conflict between a company's right to promote its corporate values and an employee's  right to honor their sincerely held religious beliefs

As w his 1st course on this topic, this presenter was great. Clear, able to explain/discuss the law without taking sides. Allowed novices to this area of law to begin to understand what needs to be considered, the nuances, the moving parts. Really well presented
