Overview
This program will provide an overview of the substantive zoning changes proposed by Mayor Adams' City of Yes initiative, as well as associated procedural changes. The three substantive areas are economic opportunity (support for small businesses), carbon neutrality (sustainability), and housing opportunity (affordable housing). The procedural changes seek to shorten the lengthy period of time required for the review of zoning applications while protecting the public's right to have meaningful input into the process. This program will benefit attorneys and others involved in the development process in New York City, including zoning, dirt law, financing, permitting, construction, and litigation.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the intent of the City of Yes changes
- Analyze key substantive aspects of the proposed changes
- Review procedural posture and timing
- Identify key issues with Mayor Adams' plan
