Overview

Today's global economy is more data-driven than ever before. Emerging technologies have changed the way organizations do business, but they have also prompted an important conversation about how consumer data is collected and protected. Since the GDPR's implementation in 2018, we have witnessed a slew of new privacy and security regulations and we expect this landscape to become even more complex over the next several years. The risks associated with these emerging technologies, coupled with the increasing threat of data breaches and other cybersecurity incidents, make data security and privacy one of the most pressing issues facing global organizations today.

In this program, Beckage Global Data Privacy Team Lead, Jordan L. Fischer, Esq., CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, will break down the current data security and privacy landscape, discuss its continued evolution over the next several years, and offer practical advice for counsel at global organizations to work towards compliance with the GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.

This course will benefit practitioners and in-house counsel who are working with organizations to navigate complex and dynamic data security and privacy requirements across a wide variety of industries and in many different geographic regions, with a focus on the EU GDPR. It will provide a baseline to understand the challenges in a complex, data-driven world and the way in which the GDPR-model is driving compliance initiatives.
