Overview
The use of mediation has grown exponentially within the legal field. Attorneys are routinely ordered to and/or selecting mediation as the preferred form of conflict resolution, increasing the number of cases being resolved outside of the traditional courtroom setting. This shift is not always easy for attorneys, who have been trained in zealous and adversarial advocacy rather than collaborative discourse. In this course, Margaret Crowley and Melissa Mangiaracina will share their extensive experience as mediators, attorneys, and judicial officers to help attorneys understand how to make the most of the mediation setting in order to achieve the best possible results for their clients.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify different mediation styles to select the best process for their clients
- Prepare their clients for the mediation process
- Ensure that their clients get the most out of the mediation experience
