Overview

This substantive one-hour program, presented by employment and entertainment attorney Jeffrey Campolongo and employment attorney Vanessa McGrath, will take a closer look at the impact of #MeToo in the fast-paced, high stakes world of morning TV news and how employment attorneys can assist their clients in light of these issues. The course will use the popular Apple TV+ series The Morning Show as a backdrop for exploring hostile work environments, harassment, and retaliation in the world of broadcast news. Jeff and Vanessa will look at clips from the series that expose the vast cover-up and the legal implications to the victims, harassers, and corporate policy makers.

The session will include a discussion of the following:

  • Who knew what, and when? Steps attorneys can take to avoid a cover-up

  • What mitigating measures can be taken when harassment is reported?

  • The importance of an independent investigator

  • How to handle inter-office relationships

Finally, this program will examine how these issues might impact employment practice and how employment attorneys can better serve their clients in the wake of these changes.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Assist clients in navigating the pitfalls of harassment allegations

  2. Review harassment policy changes that should already be in place in the workplace

  3. Identify the legal do's and don'ts of workplace interactions

  4. Examine how these changes will impact employment practice
