Overview
Ethics is part of every lawyer's daily life. The challenges of a civil trial practice require various solutions. We will discuss how to ethically represent your practice to clients in trial and trial preparation, how to honor the obligations to the Court and opposing counsel, and how to deal with thorny lien issues.
This program will benefit seasoned practitioners who want to brush up on the rules. The program will highlight the relevant rules, demonstrating them with examples.

Robert Kasieta
Founder and Managing Member | Kasieta Legal Group
Bob Kasieta has been practicing law since 1983. After a judicial clerkship, he began practicing with an insurance defense firm. In 1997, Bob formed Kasieta Legal Group, LLC, and began doing plaintiffs’ work. He focuses his practice on civil trial litigation – personal injury, corporate disputes, professional liability, and employment matters. He has tried more than 100 cases to verdict.
Bob has been recognized as one of the top 50 lawyers in Wisconsin by Milwaukee Magazine. He is a Certified Pre-Trial and Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Bob has been an adjunct instructor at Wisconsin Law School for almost 20 years, teaching pre-trial and trial advocacy.
Bob is also committed to public service. He has been the mayor of his community, a member of Dane County Regional Plan Commission, Chair of the Wisconsin State Elections Board, president of the board of Badger Prairie Needs Network, which addresses food insecurity in Dane County, Wisconsin.

Dan Shulman has been a practicing trial lawyer for more than 50 years. In 2020, after 50 years of private firm practice, he became a Staff Attorney for the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota and took a position as Of Counsel with his son’s Minneapolis law firm Shulman & Buske PLLC. He specializes in complex commercial and civil rights litigation. He was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1970 and has tried lawsuits in state and federal courts in Minnesota and numerous other states. He is a member of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers and the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is also a Fellow Emeritus of the Litigation Counsel of America. He was named a Minnesota Lawyer of the Year for 2012 and 2018. In 2021-22, he was included in The Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Antitrust Law, Bet-the-Company Litigation, and Commercial Litigation. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Harvard College (1965), a Master’s Degree in English Literature from Yale University (1967), and a Juris Doctor degree with honors from Harvard Law School (1970).
