Overview
Kids in K-12 or College or Graduate School sometimes get themselves in trouble and wind up with their school bringing charges against them. Often, the student and the parent don't fully understand the process and the school usually isn't very helpful. My goal is to explain the K-12 and the College and Graduate School discipline processes, highlighting the student's rights in these situations and the types of offenses they often get in trouble for.
This course, presented by student defense and criminal law expert Scott Limmer, provides a detailed examination of the legal consequences that arise from students who violate their school's code of conduct. Scott will discuss the behavior that most often leads to a violation including, plagiarism, academic misconduct, harassment, hazing, drugs/alcohol and Title IX Sex Offenses. Participants will gain a robust understanding of the K-12 school disciplinary system and the College and Graduate School disciplinary system. The course offers practical guidance on counseling parents and youth on preventive measures and effective legal responses should infractions occur.
The second part of a 2-part series, this program draws from the content of Scott Limmer's book "Keeping Kids Safe and Out of Trouble," which is included in the materials for this program.
