Illinois Residential Landlord-Tenant Law: From Lease to Eviction

Whether you are (or represent) a landlord, tenant or potentially both at some point, it is important to have an in-depth understanding of this highly-regulated industry. There are a variety of local, state, and federal laws which govern the landlord-tenant relationship, and it is imperative that both landlords and tenants are aware of the various regulations from the onset of the lease agreement, through what all parties hope to ultimately avoid, potential litigation.  

This seminar, presented by Katherine Rehan, will address what landlords must include in their lease agreements, how the landlord must comply with local ordinances, a tenant's rights under the ordinances, and defaults and evictions in lease agreements. In addition, this seminar will address the stricter penalties that are imposed in the City of Chicago's notoriously tenant-friendly Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance, and how it differs from the Illinois Landlord Tenant Act. It is imperative that both landlords and tenants understand the law as it pertains to their lease agreement to prevent jeopardizing the landlord-tenant relationship, and to avoid unnecessary costs and litigation.
