As capital has become increasingly fluid across international borders, individual and corporate foreign investors have struggled with traditional employment-based immigration options to move talent into the United States. For companies located within the jurisdiction of the United States' traditional trade partners, the E-2 visa category offers an efficient and low cost option to move existing talent from the investing entity into the United States to oversee the investment or deliver the company's services. In this course, Fragomen attorney Josiah Curtis addresses the intricacies of the E-2 visa category.
I. Understand the legal criteria for E-2 sponsorship
II. Identify the process for preparing and filing applications for both initial E-2 registrations
III. Recognize subsequent applications to renew this registration
Josiah joined Fragomen in 2011 as a law clerk, and has been an Associate since 2012. He works with clients on all facets of the complex immigration process, including PERM labor certification filings, various permanent residence petitions and related applications, and preparation of nonimmigrant petitions for a number of visa categories including H-1B, L-1, O-1, TN, J-1, E-2, and E-3. Josiah has worked with a number of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, startups, nonprofit organizations, and individuals. Josiah represents clients across a broad range of industries, including information technology services, healthcare, finance and banking, manufacturing, and global mobility firms.
Josiah is the primary representative of Doctors Without Borders for U.S. inbound matters. He has worked with the Political Asylum/Immigration Representation Project (“PAIR”) to acquire green cards for intending immigrants seeking asylum. He also assisted with the preparation of Haitian Temporary Protected Status cases.
