Overview
Every state has different laws about divorce. Whether you are dividing assets, dealing with custody and parenting time and/or figuring out the amount of child support and spousal maintenance/ alimony, you need to understand the law in the state you reside. This program, presented by Kelly Frawley, Esq., and Fara Rodriguez, Esq., will introduce the family law practitioner to key differences practitioners should know when practicing or comparing the laws in both states.
After Covid, many families fled New York to the New Jersey suburbs, and may clients want to know where they would have a better outcome in a divorce, in New York or New Jersey. This course will touch on some of the differences between New York and New Jersey family law and assist practitioners in their effective practice of law in these states.

Discuss how child support and maintenance/alimony are calculated in each State
Identify the differences in the duration of support in each State
Analyze some key differences with respect to equitable distribution in each State

Overall good presentation
It was great to get a refresher on NY child support. Although i no longer handle CS cases i do cover for them sometimes and expect to continue to do so.
