Overview
Conflict in the workplace and in the legal profession is a reality. We have all experienced the stress of unresolved conflict with co-workers and others we interact with. However, it is not the existence of conflict that is the problem, as there will always be conflict, but rather the mishandling of conflict that leads to troubled relationships and personal suffering. The hidden cost of workplace conflict can be enormous if not handled in a healthy way. Unaddressed conflict damages relationships reduce morale and lower client satisfaction, all of which cause long-term harm to your firm and to your overall well-being. Handling conflict can be taxing and handling conflict with tact and credibility can seem like an impossible task at times. Yet it isn't. Conflict prevention and management skills can be learned if you are willing to dive deep into your own role and if you are willing to practice certain proven ways to manage conflicting interests and styles better. Faculty Carolien Moors of HardTalk Biz Coaching will provide viewers with the conflict prevention and management skills they need to succeed in the legal workplace.

Carolien Moors

Carolien Moors is the founder of HardTalk Biz Coaching and provides executive coaching, team sessions, change management consultation, conflict mediation, keynotes, and webinars. Carolien has 30 years of experience in Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, and the U.S. and is thankful for the numerous clients in a wide variety of industries. She focuses on enhancing transition and change management, strengthening emotional intelligence, improving leadership influence, and strengthening organizational communication, accountability, and team effectiveness.
Carolien provides yearly professional development sessions for the Humphrey School of Public Affairs International Fellows Program, for the Project Management institute, and for Minnesota Continuing Legal Education. She also teaches change management, organization development, strategic communication, and other courses at the University of Minnesota several times a year. Carolien received three Master’s degrees from universities in the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, two in psychology and one in education. Carolien is known for a practical, engaging, and caringly candid and direct approach with insights from fields such as system thinking, neuroscience, and leadership and change management research.

On a more personal note, Carolien has lived and worked in the Netherlands, the U.K., Singapore, and the U.S. Every year she donates her expertise to a selected non-profit and she has always volunteered hands-on as a Guardian ad Litem, a volunteer police officer, a group leader for people with disabilities, a hospice companion, serving meals to people in need, and other meaningful causes. Carolien loves to cook, entertain, read, hike, travel, enjoy live jazz and other performing arts, ride her Yamaha FZ8, and, above all, she prioritizes time with her family of five.
