Overview
The rapid spread of artificial intelligence promises to remake the world by generating new content, improving productivity, enhancing creative efforts, and democratizing access to advanced technology. James Creedon, Deputy Managing Partner, Scale LLP, will discuss this incredible future, beginning by thinking about origins - where does all this information come from, how do these new AI tools transform that information, and how do human inputs feed into machine outputs? The program will engage the notion that "data is a verb" and identify how social bias can shape our AI-driven future. In this process the program will touch upon the legal frameworks that contribute to, or seek to ameliorate, bias - and trace this bias to understand how it can affect individuals in our communities.
This program is geared towards all legal professionals, as artificial intelligence is already part of their daily work, but attendees do not need any technical background or prior knowledge.
Learning Objectives:
- Analyze the basic functioning of generative artificial intelligence and how its training affects its outputs
- Identify potential sources of bias in AI models
- Recognize legal approaches to address potential bias in these systems
- Develop agency in shaping the future use of AI in creating a more equitable world
