Overview
This course, presented by Nick Preusch, CPA, JD, LLM, Tax Manager at Yount, Hyde & Barbour, will look at the newest bills being proposed in the cryptocurrency taxation and regulation realms. After covering updates, the course will also consider how cryptocurrency is taxed for investors, businesses, and miners of cryptocurrency. This discussion will include several key areas in tax law, such as capital vs. ordinary gains, hobby losses, and fixed asset expensing. The course will also discuss several cryptocurrency-specific transactions, such as forking.
Additionally, the course will take a deep dive into the reporting requirements (outside of the income tax reporting requirements), such as any foreign disclosures required when dealing with cryptocurrency.
