Changes To Inter Partes Reviews Under The New Director

Acting USPTO Director Coke Morgan Stewart has made numerous changes materially impacting inter partes review practice. This course will provide an overview of the inter partes review process and discuss the most important of these changes, including changes to the discretionary denial procedures, "settled expectations," institution rates, the return to in-person hearings, and limitations on the use of applicant-admitted prior art and other general knowledge in the inter partes review process. The course will also discuss some potential strategies for filing Petitions and obtaining institution.
