Overview
Where cost, efficiency, and quality are constant concerns for parties in arbitration, project management offers solutions. While these two processes have a lot in common, the two worlds do not seem to formally overlap with much frequency. This is unfortunate because the precepts of project management offer many opportunities for arbitrators and counsel to tailor the arbitration process to party needs and carefully monitor its efficiency.
This program provides practical strategies for utilizing arbitration project management. Over the course of sixty minutes, independent arbitrator and mediator Erin Gleason Alvarez explains the elements involved in traditional project management work as compared with arbitration project management and shows how these elements can positively impact the quality and efficiency of arbitration.
Learning objectives:
Review the traditional project management framework
Identify opportunities to utilize project management throughout the arbitration process
Explore examples of arbitration project management deployed by arbitrators at preliminary hearings
Explore examples of arbitration project management techniques applied by counsel in clause/agreement drafting
Discover how to drive quality assurance, efficiency, and cost-controls in the context of arbitration
