Overview

In two previous Lawline programs (Animal Research and Testing Law: The Basic Requirements and Framework and Animal Research and Testing Law: A Further Study) Ms. Montanaro discussed the recent history of animal-based research law in the United States, the general federal law and policy framework and requirements that comprise animal-based research law, and the 3R alternatives to animal-based research (reduction, replacement, refinement). She also discussed legal requirements about licensing and registration, the treatment of animals, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees, and more.

This course builds off of the first two programs. In this course, Ms. Montanaro discusses state-related topics, recent updates about animal research and testing law, and alternatives to animals used in research.
