The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the European Union becomes enforceable on May 25th, 2018, some two years after it was first passed in April of 2016. This sweeping regulation, created to protect the personal data of EU citizens, will affect almost every online business in the world with fines potentially as high as 4% of annual turnover - that’s in total sales, not profit.
With so much at stake, and such a new and wide-reaching regulation, it is imperative that US companies have at least a baseline knowledge of the contours and consequences of the law. This course, taught by Logan Lo, an IP and IT attorney at Woods Lonergan LLP, aims to provide a broad overview of the regulation for those that have little to no knowledge of the subject.
E. Logan Lo, Of Counsel to Woods Lonergan LLP, practices in the areas of Intellectual Property and IT matters; providing our clients sophisticated and technical guidance in these complex areas of law. Mr. Lo serves as counsel for several e-commerce and international businesses.
Mr. Lo is also very skilled in real property transactions and is one less than 350 MAI designated real estate appraisers in New York State and 7,430 worldwide.
From 1998-2001, he also served as an associate editor and monthly columnist for the e-commerce magazine, eSecurities, distributed by the ABA and Leader publications; in addition, he has been nationally published in CNET.com and Computer Shopper magazine.
In 2011, he presented An Overview of Moral Rights in the United States at the Third Annual Art and Law Seminar held at the Maison du Barreau in Paris and sponsored by the Bar Associations of Paris, Barcelona, and Málaga.

Good overview of GDPR
I thought this CLE was particularly good. Mr. Lo did a nice job of summarizing and met his goal of keeping me interested and not zoning out. I feel like I understand the law a bit more and am more prepared to deal with it should the occasion arise.
The instructor was one of the clearest and the best I have had and Lawline had some of the best instructors around.
Just what I was looking for - the basics so that I would understand our organization's potential obligations and next steps.
Great overview of Law and sources to examine the law
great presentation on a complex subject
Extremely clear, extremely timely
Excellent overview of the new GDPR.
I already told a colleague who is interested in Data protection Field to sign up and listen to this seminar!
This was one of the best CLEs I have taken on lawline. Great instructor and TIMELY important topic.
Very focused and practical
Very concise and pragmatic. Excellent job, Logan!
Great presenter, thank you.
This CLE was highly informative, clear, concise and extremely topical. Presenter was great. Thanks for offering.
Enjoyed the intro - had a client question recently when an NDA provided reference to the GDPR and I had only a superficial knowledge of it. Worthwhile overview and now plan to read the recitals and articles.
very good presenter
Great course. Very timely.
Thank goodness for this program. Beyond timely!
One of the best presentations I've seen yet.
Fantastic up-to-the-minute, up-to-date presentation
I found this presenter very entertaining. Not exactly clear what I learned. SFK
I only gave a 3 on the first question because the law itself is unsettled at this time. Excellent presentation.
Very informative broad overview of GDRP. I was looking for a CLE on this and this was the one. Great instructor too!
I'm a new subscriber and am very impressed with the value I'm receiving. The courses are widely varied, up to date generally, and easy to consume. Your speakers are very knowledgeable and the technology used to deliver content is top notch.
