Overview

Today, the practice of landlord-tenant law has become exceedingly complicated and specialized as tenants nationwide compete to find available and affordable rental housing in a very active market. Contributing to the complexity of this practice is the interplay between state law and, in some cases, federal law. Additionally, state legislatures around the country have largely strengthened laws designed to protect tenants in an effort to essentially keep tenants in their homes. It is against this backdrop and in this course that participants will explore and learn general principles which are applicable to most residential landlord-tenant cases particularly as it relates to the eviction process. Presented by Kenneth W. Biedzynski, Esq., this course will canvas and discuss important legal concepts that both parties should consider and implement.

In addition to discussing the above concepts transactional forms will be presented and examined.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review laws applicable to residential leaseholds and tenancies

  2. Identify checklists for key and material issues that should be addressed in most residential eviction matters

  3. Discuss concerns and issues relating to handling residential landlord-tenant matters, particularly eviction proceedings

  4. Develop best practices for handing residential landlord-tenant matters, particularly eviction proceedings
