A.I. in Employment Decisions - Assessing the Benefits and the Risks

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a critical part of many employment decisions. AI can conduct job interviews, "pass" or "fail" job applicants, and sift through large pools of applicants. The use of AI in employment decisions have attracted the attention of regulators and legislators at the federal, state, and local levels of government. This program will examine how AI is being used to make employment decisions, explore laws and regulations that might address that use, and suggest best practices to use AI.

Learning Objectives:

1. Analyze the nature of AI and how it can be used in employment decision making

2. Appreciate how the Illinois Video Interview Act and New York City Local Law No. 144 affect the use of AI in the employment context 

3. Recognize the impact of EEOC and USDOJ concerns and guidelines involving the use of AI in employment decisions

4. Predict future roles for AI in employment decisions and regulatory responses to those roles
