Overview

As promised during the 2024 campaign, the Trump administration is hostile to most forms of federal business regulation. That includes regulations that implement the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Housing Act, and other federal statutes. The administration has also made it clear that in its view constitutional and statutory guarantees of civil rights exist primarily to protect existing social and economic structures rather than the disabled and other minorities. That does not mean, though, that businesses will get a free ride on accessibility laws. Nor does it mean that those with disabilities will be left without recourse for violations of accessibility laws. This webinar will look at how the administration's new policies will and won't change the impact of laws requiring accessibility for the disabled on business, those with disabilities, and the lawyers who represent them.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the pre-election landscape of disability access enforcement
  2. Review recent actions taken by the Trump administration that will change how disability laws are enforced by the federal government
  3. Examine how changes by the administration might affect private enforcement actions
  4. Consider what changes, if any, businesses that are subject to the ADA, FHA, and Rehabilitation Act should make in their policies concerning compliance with those laws

Topics covered

Americans with Disabilities Act, Fair Housing Act, Rehabilitation Act, Trump administration policies and regulations.
