Biography

Lara has over 16 years of Civil litigation, healthcare fraud, regulatory, and administrative law experience. As a former Assistant Attorney General for Texas, Lara has handled high-profile fraud cases for the government, including investigations, drafting subpoenas, Civil Investigative Demands, Examinations Under Oath, settlement conferences, and complex discovery management in both Federal and State court.

Case Highlights

Co-counsel in cases filed under seal against major pharmaceutical and pharmacy companies in federal and state courts – obtained $73.0MM in recoveries for the State of Texas.

Lead counsel in U.S. ex rel. Hudnall v. Rescare, filed under the Federal False Claims Act and the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act – $2.1MM settlement

Lead counsel in a joint investigation with the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and the Civil Medicaid Fraud Section, against Emeritus Corporation – $1.8MM settlement
