Overview
A law practice can only survive in the context of a well-run law business. Until recently, lawyers in law school learned nothing of operating a law business, nor did law firms help them develop the knowledge and skill base needed to survive and thrive in an increasingly competitive industry. If you are starting a new practice, solo or with a few partners, having knowledge of the essentials of running a law business is critical. It is no less important if you are an associate or junior partner in a larger law firm. Absent an understanding of how the business of law works, your advancement in the firm will be impeded because you will not have reasonable expectations nor will you be able to impact the firm's success beyond your personal lawyering and billing.
Join former Florida state legislator Alan Becker as he emphasizes the importance of best business practices for lawyers in this program, based upon the course "The Business of Law" that Mr. Becker taught at the University of Miami Law School.
