Course Description

Appellate Practice in New York State can be confusing for attorneys in the ordinary course. In the last several years, there has been a rapid expansion of electronic filing, the implementation of Statewide Practice Rules of the Appellate Division, and new rules in some of the other appellate courts. With deadlines and paper copy requirements being changed and suspended, and some courts even closed, due to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it can become almost impossible to stay abreast of how to successfully practice in the appellate courts. In fact, procedures have been changing from week-to-week and sometimes even daily. This one-hour update, presented by Jacquelyn Mouquin of AppealTech, will explore the latest practices and procedures of the New York State appellate courts, and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals during the pandemic.

  1. Get up-to-date on the expansion of electronic filing in NY appellate courts
  2. Review the most recent changes to deadlines and paper copy requirements in NY appellate courts during the COVID-19 pandemic
  3. Obtain the latest developments and status of operations in NYS courts and the Second Circuit Court of Appeals during the pandemic
  4. Gain handy tips for successful practice in the appellate court in light of recent changes
