How To Represent Insurance Brokers, Physicians, Real Estate Agents, and Other Professionals in Administrative Agency Actions

This course, taught by Sari Gabay, Esq., of Gabay & Bowler, will describe the role of state agencies such as the Department of Financial Services, Office of Professions, Department of Health, and the Department of State, in the licensing and relicensing process of insurance brokers, real estate agents, medical and other professionals, and will explore regulatory and enforcement actions. The course will also review how to represent a client that is the subject of an administrative complaint, inquiry, or regulatory proceeding, how to handle a hearing, and the appeals and reporting processes. 

1. Understand the powers of state agencies, who they govern, and how they regulate licensees

2. Gain a basic understanding of the State Administrative Procedures Act, general rules for assisting a client in responding to state agency investigations, and the appeals process, including Article 78 proceedings

3. Explore recent decisions and consent orders that involve penalties and other disciplinary action against licensees

4. Understand the importance and obligations of reporting arrests and disciplinary action
