Tax law is an ever-changing area of law. This course will keep attorneys up-to-date on all of the latest tax law changes and trends, and the implications of these changes on tax planning. This program, taught by experienced tax lawyer Dewey Golkin, will also discuss how recent tax law changes impact questions like the choice of entity and other tax strategies.

Dewey Golkin is a practicing attorney licensed in New York State, the United States Supreme Court, the District Court of New York, Southern and Eastern Districts and the United States Tax Court. He has served as a trustee of the Brooklyn Bar Association since 1992 and currently chairs the commercial law committee.
Mr. Golkin received his Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Masters of Science in Education from University of Pennsylvania. He has also received his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and his L.L.M. in taxation from Temple University School of Law. Mr. Golkin is a Certified Public Accountant licensed to practice in New York State. Mr. Golkin has also served as an Administrative Law Judge and Hearing Officer for over 20 years.
Mr. Golkin has more than 30 years of litigation experience and deals with a variety of areas including but not limited to Commercial Litigation, IRS practice, Estate and Tax Counseling, Criminal Defense, Administrative Law and Education Law.

Mr. Golkin has served on the Boards of a number of not-for-profit organizations including the St. Frances Homeless Shelter, Heart Share, Mercy Home and the Brooklyn Music School. These organizations have helped countless people who are homeless, hungry, or in some other need. He has also given numerous scholarships to students providing them with needed assistance for their education.
Mr. Golkin serves as a Deputy Chief Counsel to the New York Guard. Through the New York Guard, he prepares wills, health proxies and other documents relating to estate matters for members of the military at the Fort Hamilton Army Base in Brooklyn, New York. Providing this service to both active and retired members of the military has been a gratifying means of giving back to the community.
For the last 25 years, Mr. Golkin has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in tax, law and accounting at New York University and St. Joseph College. Many of his students have become lawyers and accountants and work in the New York metropolitan area. Mr. Golkin is also a frequent lecturer in CLE programs at the Brooklyn Bar Association.
AWARDS
Dewey Golkin is the recipient of the Brooklyn Bar Association’s Annual Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Science of Jurisprudence and Public Service. He has also received various awards including the State of New York Military Recruitment Medal, New York University’s Service and Teaching Award, Xaverian’s Presidential Award and various Brooklyn Bar Association Service Awards.
