Business Resilience: Compliance Obligations and Liability Mitigation

Aired on

Intermediate

Overview

This course will explore the rules, requirements, and legal issues in disaster recovery and business continuity. Several industries such as healthcare, banking, and insurance already have disaster recovery and business continuity (or business resilience) compliance requirements - but there is little available guidance in the area.

This program, led by attorney Lawrence Montle and disaster management expert Marc Denker, will combine the former’s legal knowledge with answers to pressing disaster mitigation questions based on the latter’s business resilience expertise to illustrate the legal issues from both perspectives.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Familiarize oneself with the essential language of business resilience
  2. Discuss the business continuity compliance requirements of health care (HIPAA), NY State Insurance companies (Circular Letter 4), and banks (FFIEC handbook guidance)
  3. Identify the essential elements of a continuity of operations plan (the core document of business resilience)
