The purpose of the Current Trends in Derivatives Law Program is to present the audience with an overview of applicable derivatives law generally and then a status update of where the laws stand today.  

Presented by Alston & Bird attorney Alice Yurke, the program will also discuss principles and priorities disclosed by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Securities and Exchange Commission, and how they may impact regulatory developments. The final segment will discuss the state of cross-border regulatory harmonization efforts between the United States and the European Union and issues posed by Brexit.

Alice Yurke


Alice is a member of Dentons' Capital markets practice group.

Her practice covers registered and unregistered structured and derivatives products, including equity and credit, hedge fund, foreign exchange and commodity-linked structures in the U.S. and offshore markets. She advises clients on a variety of products, whether standalone or in the context of a lending, acquisition or other transaction.

In addition to advising numerous financial institutions in structuring financial products for hedging, arbitrage, balance sheet management and liquidity purposes in a variety of sectors, Alice has a background in liquidity and credit support arrangements for commercial paper and other programs. She has worked in leveraged finance and advises clients on risk-based capital and other regulatory concerns, as well as bankruptcy and workout-related issues in derivatives and loan transactions.

Alice has experience in the regulation of commodity pool operators, commodity trading advisers, introducing brokers and swap execution facilities; matters relating to the election of the end-user exception to mandatory swap clearing; extraterritoriality and substituted compliance issues; and other regulatory concerns arising under the Dodd–Frank financial reforms. As an adviser to banks, broker-dealers, hedge funds and corporations, her cross-disciplinary experience enables her to formulate effective solutions for clients navigating the various regulatory regimes that impact them and their businesses.
