Overview

Having a strong credit score is more important than ever. Regardless of whether your clients need credit to finance a car, obtain a mortgage, or qualify for employment with fiduciary responsibilities, it is important to make sure that the credit bureaus are accurately reflecting their credit history.

This course, taught by NYC debt relief attorney Simon Goldenberg, will provide an overview of the process to submit credit disputes, a discussion of identity theft remedies, and an outline of the laws that govern the conduct of credit data furnishers and credit repair companies.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify the various credit information aggregators, including consumer credit bureaus such as Experian, Equifax, Transunion, and commercial credit bureaus such as Experian, Dunn & Bradstreet, and Chexsystems
  2. Understand how to obtain and analyze a detailed free credit report and dispute inaccurate credit information
  3. Assess the need for credit correction vs. credit repair
  4. Discuss the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Credit Repair Organization Act, the advance fee prohibition, and hot topics in credit repair
