Overview

During this presentation, real estate attorney Matt Lehrer will discuss how COVID-19 has affected real estate transactions in NY. Specifically, this presentation will cover issues facing parties already in the contract (i.e. delayed board approvals, delayed closings), new negotiation strategies for buyers/seller not yet in the contract (i.e. outside termination dates, funding contingency language, post-closing escrow in lieu of pre-closing walkthrough), and virtual closings (including virtual notarization of documents).

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the impact COVID-19 has had on parties currently in contract

  2. Explore new negotiation strategies and techniques that can be used in the COVID-19 era

  3. Examine new technology solutions to employ in real estate transactions including virtual notarization of documents and virtual closings
