Bio:

Professor Gil Fried is one of the most prolific sports law/risk management writers in the country.  He has published five text books (employment law, sport risk management, sport finance, sport facility management, and the resource materials for the IAAM's Academy for Venue Safety and Security), 7 book chapters, and over 140 articles including 12 peer review journal articles.  He is a popular speaker and has made over 50 academic presentations and industry presentations over the past eight years.

Professor Fried became a tenured Associate Professor at the University of Houston where he directed their sport management program. In 1999, he moved to the University of New Haven where the sport management program is part of the business school and offers an MBA concentration in Sport Management.  Professor Fried also coordinates UNH’s Facility Safety Institute. 

Professor Fried, who directs Gil Fried & Associates, LLC, holds a B.S. in Business Administration from California State University, and an M.A. in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sport Management and Doctor of Laws through a concurrent program at Ohio State University.  Fried has held various positions in the sports industry ranging from Vice President of a professional women's basketball league to his current position as an Associate Professor in the School of Business, Management of Sports Industries Program, at the University of New Haven.

Professionally trained as an insurance defense litigator and an employer-side employment law specialist, his focus is on sport law, sport finance, and facility management.

He is a member of the California State Bar.
