John S. Erwin

John S. Erwin, is the managing partner of the law firm of Hill, Ullman & Erwin, LLP which has offices in New York City, Scarsdale and Water Mill, New York.  Mr. Erwin specializes in the areas of Wills, Trusts, Estate and Gift Tax Planning and Probate and Administration of Estates.  He has developed his expertise in over twenty-five years of practice and has spoken before many groups on those subjects.

Mr. Erwin calls his specialty “Waste Management” by which he means using estate planning methods to minimize taxes and minimize taxes and maximize the wealth transferred to family or other loved ones.

Mr. Erwin meets with each client to discuss particular goals, constructs a customized plan to meet the goals and then prepares the documents required to implement the plan.  The documents always include Wills or Living Trusts, Health Care Proxies and Powers of Attorney.  Advanced planning can involve one or more of Life Insurance Irrevocable Trusts, Generation-Skipping Transfers, Living Trusts, Dynasty Trusts, Family Limited Partnerships, Charitable Remainder Trusts and Qualified Personal Residence Trusts.

A Justice of the Supreme Court once said, “It is the duty of every American citizen to pay the least tax possible.”  That is the goal of Waste Management.

Mr. Erwin is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
