Bio:
David Aronson is a founding partner of ARONSON MAYEFSKY & SLOAN, LLP, a sixteen-lawyer firm concentrating its practice in Family Law and related matters. Over the years, both Mr. Aronson and the firm have handled numerous high profile and complex matters involving every aspect of family law.
Mr. Aronson graduated with honors in 1974 from Brooklyn Law School, where he was an editor of the Law Review. He has for more than 20 years had an "AV" rating in Martindale-Hubbell, which is that publication's highest rating for competence and ethical standards. He has also been repeatedly chosen by his peers for inclusion in "The Best Lawyers in America," and “New York Super Lawyers,” and has been among only a handful of matrimonial lawyers included in that publication’s list of the 100 lawyers who received the highest peer rating in Super Lawyers review process. He has regularly been featured in New York Magazine as one of the top matrimonial lawyers in New York City and was named by that publication as New York City’s Family Lawyer of the Year for 2011.
Following his graduation from law school, Mr. Aronson served as law clerk to Hon. William C. Conner of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Thereafter, from 1976 until 1983, he was an associate in the litigation department at Proskauer Rose LLP. Mr. Aronson began practicing matrimonial law as a specialty in 1983.
Mr. Aronson is a member of various local and national bar associations. He is a Diplomat of the American College of Family Trial Lawyers and a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and has served on the Board of Managers and as a Vice President of the AAML’s New York Chapter and on the Board of Managers of the New York State Bar Association Family Law Section.
Mr. Aronson served a three-year term on the Council on Judicial Administration of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and is a former Adjunct Assistant Professor at Brooklyn Law School. He is currently a member of the New York State Unified Court System’s Matrimonial Practice Advisory Committee.
Mr. Aronson has written and lectured extensively on a variety of subjects in the field, including valuation issues, custody matters, nuptial agreements (pre and post), and trial techniques. Among the organizations for which Mr. Aronson has appeared as a lecturer are the New York State Office of Court Administration, New York State Judicial Institute, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the American Society of Appraisers, the New York State Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York County Lawyers' Association, the Women's Bar Association, the CitiBar Center for Continuing Legal Education, the Practicing Law Institute, and the New York State Supreme Court, Appellate Division, First Department.
