Steven Zeidman, Esq.

Steven Zeidman is an Associate Professor at CUNY School of Law and the Director of their Criminal Defense Clinic. Prior to his tenure at CUNY, Professor Zeidman taught at New York University School of Law, Pace University School of Law and Fordham Law School. He has taught courses in Criminal Defense, Evidence, Litigation Planning, Criminal Procedure and Foundation Skills. From 1999 to 2002, Professor Zeidman was the Executive Director of The Fund for Modern Courts. He started his legal career at the Legal Aid Society's Criminal Defense Division as a staff attorney and a supervising attorney. Professor Zeidman has been involved in many advisory and oversight committees including The Jury Trial Project, Indigent Defense Organization Oversight Committee, Sentencing Reform Commission and the Mayor's Advisory Committee on the Judiciary. He is the author of numerous law review articles including To Plead or Not to Plead: Effective Assistance and Client-Centered Counseling and Policing the Police: The Role of the Court and the Prosecution.
