Mr. Bachrach is an associate in the law offices of Robert M. Simels, P.C., having previously spent four years as an associate at the Law Offices of Richard Ware Levitt.  Robert M. Simels, P.C. is a litigation firm specializing in Criminal Law, Securities, Tax law, Labor, Malpractice, Administrative, Divorce, and Personal Injury, among others.  Mr. Bachrach specializes in Criminal Defense, and also practices general civil litigation.  Mr. Bachrach practices in both Federal and State courts at all stages of trial and appeal. 

 

Mr. Bachrach was born in Philadelphia and raised in New York.  He received his B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College and his J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, having also spent his final year of undergraduate school studying international law at Oxford University.  Mr. Bachrach is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court.


Mr. Bachrach is a member of the New York Criminal Bar Association (NYCBA) and the New York County Lawyers’ Association (NYCLA).  He currently the Treasurer and a Member of the Board of Directors the NYCBA, as well as the Chair of NYCLA’s United Nations Sub-Committee, and the Main/Lead Representative for NYCLA to the United Nations.  Mr. Bachrach is also a Member of the NYCBA Internet and Newsletter Committee and a former Co-Chair of NYCLA’s Committee on Foreign and International Law.  Mr. Bachrach has lectured, taught workshops, and chaired conferences on the subjects of Criminal Law, Public International Law, Human Rights and International Criminal Law, both here in New York as well as abroad.


Mr. Bachrach’s publications include: "The Protection and Rights of Victims under International Criminal Law," 34 Int’l Law. 7 (Spring 2000); "The Rome Statute Explained," 12 Int’l L. Practicum 37 (Spring 1999); and "The Permanent International Criminal Court: An Examination of the Statutory Debate," 5 ILSA J. Int’l & Comp. L. 139 (Fall 1998).  From 2000-2004, Mr. Bachrach was the editor of the Second Circuit Criminal Law Update, an annually updated criminal law outline, and is currently co-author of NYCBA’s monthly newsletter.
