On an airplane, you may hear the captain say, “This is your captain speaking. We are now secure for takeoff,” but is the passenger also secure for liabilities incurred during airline travel or for injuries sustained at an airport? Attorney Abram Bohrer discusses the personal injury liabilities and other legal issues which arise in domestic and international airline travel. He reviews the Montreal Convention, which is the international treaty that sets out airlines’ liabilities for passengers and provides examples of suits under the Convention. He concludes with a discussion of what the average practitioner should know in handling these cases which can often be thought of as very “up in the air".
