Principles of Agency Law
About this Program
Agency Law is basically a specialized branch of contract law where an agent is authorized to act on behalf of a principal to create a legal relationship with a third party. Attorney Morris Nunes introduces basic agency law and explains how it is closely related to contract law and how to recognize an agency. Mr. Nunes explains the various elements, such as control and manifestation of intent of an agency and also how to recognize them. He continues the presentation with an overview of the duties that both a principal and agent owe to one another along with the potential liabilities that the principal and agent may encounter with third parties. He finishes the presentation by providing some key points that may help one determine the existence of a relationship and also how to terminate an agency or to recognize the end of an agency.
I. Contractual Basis
II. “Control” as an Essential Element
III. Fiduciary Duty of an Agent
IV. Reciprocal Duties of Parties
V. Liability to Third Parties
VI. Determining Existence of Agency
VII. Agency Termination

This is an unclear area of the common law that is often confusing to lawyers, and the courts. Much appreciated this presentation!
good command of subject matter
Good summary of agency law. As with the course I took in law school, the subject is too dry not to use many examples.
A very good presentation by an obivously experience attorney on the principals of agent, principal law and it would have been nice of there were an MP3 version of this seminar. Otherwise, Mr. Nunes is a good well centered, time-adjustment speaker for the format.
