|Practice Areas:||Law Practice Management|
Marketing your new law firm through traditional means of advertising, like newspaper ads or TV commercials, can be cost prohibitive and yield little in the way of new clients. In this course, successful solo practitioner turned firm founder, Daniel Gershburg, shares his own personal stories of what worked and did not work in the first five years of his firm. Specifically, Gershburg emphasizes the importance of eschewing print and TV advertising, and embracing the online options, including personal websites and online review sites. Blending humor and keen insight, Gershburg explains how online marketing can allow attorneys to connect with potential clients in a more engaging manner, and the importance of blogging. The program concludes with a discussion on the ethical issues that can arise through attorney internet advertising, and the significance of knowing the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct. This course is a must-see for attorneys seeking to start their own firm, and also for those at established small firms looking to keep their presence and promotions relevant.

This is a useful course. I learned about a few of the finer points of online marketing. As a result, I am going to sign up for some of the free accounts at sites like Yelp.com in order to start realizing the benefits. I was saddened to learn that Mr. Gershburg got into a fight over a parking space. Chicago is like that, too. On the other hand, perhaps I can invite Mr. Gershburg to put the gloves on sometime for a friendly match. Keep up the great work!
