About this Program

In response to the wave of recent layoffs, many attorneys are branching off and establishing independent practices.  Attorney George Brunelle discusses making ethics and profitability interdependent in a practice. Following the Code of Ethics enables attorneys to work effectively, keep clients happy, and avoid the financial losses that inevitably result from ethical troubles. He also examines the manner in which the profitability and quality of one's practice is tied closely to the cases and clients that one turns down. Brunelle concludes by reviewing the ethical pitfalls surrounding a client’s financial situation.

Agenda:

I.  Interdependent Ethics and Profitability
II. Ethical client intake and rejections
III. Client financial situations and warning signs
IV. Conflicts checks and Ethics Rules 1.7-1.10 and 1.13
V.  Differing Fee Arrangements
VI. Getting Competent in the Law
VII. Ethical Office Matters

Please Note:

  • This course is available in Georgia for 1.00 credits of professionalism.
