Ethics: Should Lawyers be Constrained by the Truth?
About this Program
The "Truth" is a term that can take on many different meanings when it comes to the law and the way it is practiced. This course looks at that concept from three different viewpoints. Joel Cohen, Michael Ross, and James Bernard discuss the many situations when lawyers are bound by what they know and what they "don't know". It offers an interesting look into how far an attorney can stretch the truth and why that may or may not be acceptable.

I liked the discussion format.
There are some interesting concepts in the course.
The conversational form of presentation was appreciated.
Very productive and helpful information!!
At first, I was worried that the "free flow" format of the discussion on ethics would be a poor format, but the speakers' competency and choice of topic made the content both interesting and instructive. This presentation was one of the more interesting ethics training courses that I have attended.
This was a very informative and well-presented program
Enjoyable. It was an interesting format.
excellent program for criminal or civil

I enjoyed the roundtable discussion approach
The conversation format was interesting, engaging.
Enjoyed the informal format. Speakers clearly know their material; and are very insightful.
the format was different but the attorneys were knowlegable
Good food for thought, and I could listen and iron at the same time, since you said the verification code aloud.
Interesting issues with insightful analyses
The lecture was easy to follow and interesting, especially with the contemporary references.
Excellent, very engaging course. I love the format. Plenty of substance, without droning on. Well done.
OUTSTANDING discussion. These guys really know their stuff. Thank you.

Really great discussion. Enjoyable and engaging format for a difficult topic!
Conversational format was excellent.
enjoyed the colloquial stage of presentation. The dialogue was great. Real world examples, explanations very helpful. 5 stars to these gents!
The topic was interesting and the speakers were knowledgeable. It helps that the speakers are dynamic and not monotone. In terms of technology, I liked that you can sync the slides with the current topic in the event that you needed more time to view a slide or advanced to a future slide.
Great format, presentation, substance and knowledge. First rate program.
Thoughtful and provocative.
Great discussion topic and I liked the dialogue format.
The informal discussion was a nice format.
there was a problem with the audio and it would pause at times, almost like a skip.
excellent format and good speakers. I like the informal conversation between the three speakers.
I found it very helpful to me for my initial interviews with my client. It was also helpful for me for use during trial in situations where I am unsure of my client's veracity, whether on the stand or not.
one of your best offerings--clear that these lawyers know their subject matter, clear that they are able to articulate their views with precision
very sound presentation of both criminal and commercial law contexts,

Really interesting. Addresses an issue I am currently facing and will be helpful to me in assessing that.
Fascinating even though I am not in litigation!
Very insightful for any attorney practicing either civil or criminal law.
Although I would have liked definitive answers, it was made clear that the courts have not clearly drawn the lines in various areas. I think the conversation clearly made this point and also think that a conversation format was most interesting and easy to follow.
very good course on ethics for trial lawyer
Very good, one of the best.
The presenters -- all three of them -- are the best I've seen so far. And their materials were very good.
The written materials were clear and to-the-point.

good review to help one protect themself from sanctions
The conversational dialogue was very well done.
Excellent presentation. The informal panel discussion format covered key concepts in a highly interesting way.
Fun, wide-ranging discussion of thorny topics. Too bad we did not get to firm conclusions. Maybe the subject matter does not lend itself to them.
I enjoyed the roundtable format.
Good discussion, clearly presented.
Interesting, thoughtful presentation.
Was a little too conversational between the panel members but still a good class
I enjoyed the round table format. It lends itself well to ethics.
It was beneficial to have written materials alongside the video presentation. A wide range of subtopics were touched on.

The materials transcript of the talk is a great idea.
Great role playing with examples.
I enjoyed listening to the "round robin" style of presenting this material.
Nice treatment of an interesting topic, on issues that arise almost weekly in Criminal practice.
A bit theoretical, but that is inherent in this subject matter. Overall, a thought provoking and useful program.
I liked this format for this topic. The discussion was engaging.
Style of presentation actually felt like you were participating in the discussion.
i liked the relaxed sort of round table discussion instead of the stiff presentation format
I like the format
good animated dialogue amongst the speakers on some very tricky subject matter....
Very entertaining. The attorneys' cross-talk kept the presentation lively and interesting. I especially liked that they provided a transcript of the presentation in the written materials.
Good because it was three lawyers rather than one lawyer presenting the material.
Excellent course. Very interesting and informative. Changed a lot of my perceptions. I will listen to this course again.
breath of fresh air
very interesting format.
Messrs. Cohen, Ross and Bernard present an excellent overview of the ethical considerations of volitional ignorance. Fast moving, upbeat format. Very interesting.
To know or not to know, that is the question.
The presentation was done in an easawy to listen and follow format.
Very interesting. I enjoyed the discussion
very fine presentation with capable expert attorneys involved. i would suggest however, that the participants research and present pertinant and relevant areas from area of epistemology (the theory of knowledge)thereby augmenting their knowledge of what is considered knowledge. joe frantin, miami
incredible seminar. many thoughtful questions raised.
Excellent, intelligent discussion. I will watch for other courses led by Messrs. Cohen, Ross and Bernard.
Fascinating and down to earth by people who know what they are talking about!
Some more specific reference to the RPC's in a course meant for multi-state consumption would be useful.
relevant to a case that I'm working on
A very interesting and thought provoking topic. Well presented.
I found it worth more from a theoretical perspective, than a directly practical perspective. But that doesn't bother me, at all.
Fantastic panel discussion by three well-spoken lawyers who were able to apply principles to hypothetical and real case scenarios - thank you!
Very strong and practical program. All three presenters are very impressive.
I enjoyed the conversational aspect of this lecture.
I liked the relaxed format. The conversation style between the three presenters made it more interesting.
Excellent format, delivery and course!
Great "panel" discussion format.
I was a bit leery about the format. I've attended too many panel discussions that turned into friends catching up with each other's war stories. This was a terrific, entertaining and extremely educational program.
Interesting discussion and analysis
An interesting and at times surprising discussion.
Very engaging discussion. All three presenters are well informed on the topic, and convey everyone's concern for doing right for our clients AND our legal process.

I thought the format of this program was very good. I enjoyed the round table discussion.
Liked the format of a panel as opposed to one speaker
interesting format. speakers are clearly knowledgable.
Great seminar. Because the presenters not only were colleagues, but obviously were friends, in effect, they allowed me to eavesdrop on their debate of the issues, rather than a "Group Lecture" on the subject. Most entertaining.
Great discussion. Compelling topic of interest to all attorneys.
Fascinating discussion, enjoyed the format.
This seminar was excellent in every respect. I'd have been happier to know how Florida courts have ruled on the ethical issues presented, but the discussion about the ABA Model Rules helps fill that gap somewhat. I very much enjoyed the discussion about "What can we actually know?" The course is both philosophical and practical. Ira Abrams, Esq. Delray Beach, FL
I think I would like all three of these guys as friends. I like their mannerisms and affect too. Of course they know the law, but what I really enjoyed about Joel is how he moderated the discussion to get Mile and and James to field most of the answers. Kudos guys. I do tax work and actually found a lot of the discussion helpful and stimulating. Cheers !
Excellent discussion presented in an engaging and entertaining way.
Incredibly knowledgeable panel. Excellent presentation.
The discussion format is more interesting than a single speaker.
Great discussion about interesting topic many of us deal with by the seats of our trousers.
Very interesting discussion. I am still, however, not sure as to when and if I would be "constrained by" the truth. The speakers were really intelligent and I would be honored to take one of their courses.
IT was informative.
interesting issues and an engaging format
very thought provoking.
I thought they were very good - and I liked the open dialog.
Particularly enjoyed that discussion format. I get so tired of "talking-head" programs where a single expert lectures for the entire time. The discussion among three people who sometimes disagreed was so much more interesting and informative.
lots of information!
these guys were great! I loved listening to their stories.
Thought the speakers were excellent. I really liked the roundtable conversation format.
I enjoyed the lecture and the speakers were fairly engaging, I just felt the material was a bit redundant. But overall, a solid course.
Thought provoking session

One of the best I have heard--guys in the trenches discussing real problems and giving practical observations
the examples and hypotheticals made for compelling food for thought.
Only the second one I have listened but so far the best
Excellent presentation. Sometimes panning from speaker to speaker was too fast and distracting.
Michael Ross is very knowledgable and a good speaker.
Outstanding presentation! Enjoyable, too - first rate.
very good course, good refresher on material for experienced counsel.
These 3 ethics sessions have been the best I've ever seen. I hope the rest will be just as interesting and well done.

It was terrific that this seminar was structured as a conversation rather than the speakers reading prepared presentations.
