Ethical Considerations in Client Perjury
About this Program
What does an attorney do when a client commits perjury? Sarah Jo Hamilton and Barry Temkin discuss a lawyer's duties under the Model Rules of Professional Conduct as they relate to client perjury. They give a practical approach to tackling these issues through case law, the Model Rules and personal experience. While the Model Rules provide a basis for lawyer conduct, there remain inconsistencies in the law that are discussed in this course. This is a must watch ethics program as Hamilton and Temkin provide great insight on these important issues.

Very interesting and helpful discussion.
Ms. Temkin was fabulous!
enjoyed the movie reference
Quite practical. I found this course very helpful.
Temkin and Hamilton address ethical issues in a manner which allows and requires the practitioner to consider not only what a lawyer's obligations are under the model rules and opinions, but also makes one ask the more important question: what do honesty and integrity require in a variety of specific situations. The guidelines they discuss are clear, but their invitation for all attorneys to consider the greater obligations underlying the rules, is to be highly commended. More from Temkin and Hamilton, please.
enjoyed their insight
Good presentation. The two presenters complimented eachother and kept the program lively.
Liked the movie fact pattern.
I thought it was very informative and I liked the comparison about the movie "Primal Fear."

Excellent. Both lawyers great. Best seminar so far. I wonder if Sarah Jo and Barry are too young to remember Charles Laughton in "Witness For The Prosecution."
Excellent presentation. Presented very cohesively.
Any presentation that discusses the movie Primal Fear is A-Okay in my book. Although I would think that every attorney should know how to handle the situations addressed in the seminar, the speakers kept a good pace going to keep the audience engaged.
I thought it was informative and direct, without a lot of the anecdotal material that sometimes clouds other CLE classes
somewhat confusing presentation and materials
Great use of movie/real case examples.

Interesting differences between jurisdictions.
Very nuanced and difficult subject that was handled well by the instructors
this one is really well done.
On ethics you probably should have state specific speakers since not every state follows the model rules; speakers had to generalize too much.
Good material, nicely presented.
Good course! Speakers were very clear. Good use of cases and Model Rules to illustrate points.
Wonderful presentation on client perjury--clear, to the point and helpful. The speakers also framed their presentation in terms of the ABA Code and Model Rules rather than in terms of a single state's law. Bravo!

Very useful, practical, and well presented!
Solid and good materials.
This should be mandatory viewing for every member of every bar assoc!
I liked the technique of introducing the hypothetical at the beginning, but then discussing it in depth at the end of the presentation. It was helpful for framing the issues discussed during the meat of the presentation.
Both speakers were very knowledgeable and presented the material well together. The topic was well covered, both as to criminal and civil areas, and while a seemingly narrow subject, in ethical consideration, is very important. Well done.
I liked the idea of two speakers
The discussion of the narrative testimony in criminal cases to deal with the client perjury or potential perjury was informative.
Useful insights for the unwary.
Good hypotheticals and case examples.
effective use of film hypothetical; speakers had excellent command of material
