About this Program

The current economic situation has made fraud an increasingly relevant concern for legal practitioners. In this fast-paced and engaging dialogue from attorneys Sheila Gowan and Robert Sadowski, the Federal False Claims Act is examined from multiple angles, from the bases for liability to monetary awards for qui tam plaintiffs; from filing a claim to the complex phenomenon of government intervention.  Gowan and Sadowski also pay special attention to the Federal Enforcement Recovery Act, passed in May 2009, which amends the Federal False Claims Act.  They provide detailed case law examples, and offer a variety of practical tips for attorneys involved in fraud litigation.

I.   Bases for Liability and Definitions of Key Terms
II.  Practice and Procedures
III. Qui Tam Actions
IV.Government Intervention
V. Government Declination to Intervene
VI. Monetary Awards to the Qui Tam Plaintiff
